Middle zone of flame is luminous becsuse there is a sufficient oxygen is present so it can burns easily and produce flame and in the outer zone there is no oxygen present there so it not burn fully and not produce flame so it is also known as dark zone

Middle zone is luminous due insufficient amount of oxygen required for burning and outer zone is non luminous because there is full supply of oxygen and all hydrocarbon completely burn .
