When viewed from the Earth the celestial bodies appear to move from east to west in the sky because of the rotation of the earth. The earth spins on its Axis counter clockwise( west to east ) completing 24 hours in one rotation. Due to the Daily rotation of the earth we have to keep changing the direction for observing a particular star. This makes the celestial bodies appear to be moving in the sky east to west with respect to the earth.
