Frogs and fish mostly lay their eggs in water, larvae produced by them could flow along with water so to protect their generation they have to lay thousands of eggs at a time while hens lay eggs on land,so they do not need to lay many eggs. Frogs lay so many eggs because as they do not look after their young most do not survive to adulthood. From the three thousand eggs that one female lays, only around five will become adult frog. Frogs laid so many eggs in water to make sure that enough eggs reach to the morality & adulthood
