  • Changes at Puberty:
  1. Increase in Height - The most conspicuous change during puberty is the sudden increase in height. At the time of puberty, the long bones (the bones of the arms and the legs) elongate and make a person tall. Initially, girls grow faster than boys but by about 18 years of age, both reach their maximum height. The rate of growth in height varies from person to person. Some boys and girls grow suddenly at puberty and then slow down, while others may grow gradually.
  2. Change in Body Shape – When puberty sets in, a time of rapid changes in body shape and appearance starts in boys and girls which makes them look different from one another. Changes in body shape and appearance in boys and girls brought about by the onset of puberty of puberty are as follows:Boys develop broader shoulders and wider chests than girls. Girls develop broader hips than boys.Boys develop more muscles than girls.Girls develop breasts.Boys develop Adam’s Apple which makes them look different from girls.Boys develop facial hair but the girls do not have facial hair.
