The elongated cells or spindle are cellular structures of elongated size with diverse functions, among the main the constitution of muscular tissue. Examples are smooth muscle cells and nerve cells. 

Different shapes of cells

  • Spherical Cells. They are round in shape. Example - Red Blood Cells in Humans.
  • Spindle Cell. They are elongated like a spindle. Example - Muscle Cell in Humans.
  • Elongated Cell. They are shaped like a branch of a tree.
