Doctrine of lapse means if the king did not have any male heir (child)his Kingdom would be lapse (snached) & would become a part of british territory are only 6 Kingdoms annexed under it(i.e. Sambalpur in 1850 , Jhasi in 1854 , Nagpur in 1853 ,Awadh in 1856 , Udaipur in 1852 ,Satara in 1848).
