A cell is capable of carrying out all the life functions, such as nutrition, excretion, respiration, etc. Hence a cell is called the functional unit of life. The cell is the smallest unit of life and all the living beings are made up of cells. Or Cells are called the structural and functional unit of life because all the living organisms are made up of cells and also all the functions taking place inside the body of organisms are performed by cells.
