The survey became important under the British . Under the initiative of Sir Geogre Everest and William Lambton they started the survey. Topographical sheets were prepared for the measuring different things. Even they surveyed geographycal features like mountains,rivers etc. This helped us as they surveyed the large expanse of the country within no time.
