British preserve the official documents because They thought that the act of writing was important. Every decision plan policy had to be clearly written in the official documents . So that these could be later be debated in some or the other reason.

British preserve the official documents and letters because they thought that once it is preserve it can be easily study and debated it also helps in making notes and study and in addition we can know about the decision taken in the past
