When a heavy piece of furniture is to be pulled across a room , it becomes easier to do so if we put a large piece of cloth lika a bedsheet underneath it and pull the cloth rathar than the furniture .explain?

    The piece of cloth reduces the opposing force that is friction. When we pull the cloth which has lesser friction with the floor the furniture gets pushed easily.
