Water is essential for the life processes. Plants absorb water from the soil along with nutrients. 90% of the body of the living organisms is filled with water.
*During winter, water on the plants freezes into snow. Conversion of water in the liquid state to solid state by the process of freezing releases energy. This energy is provided to the plant in the form of heat and keep them warm.
*During summer, water from the plant is lost by the process of transpiration. This cools the surface of the leaves and other plant parts from scorching sun.
Hence, water protects plants from frost and hot air currents.
