Coal:
(i) Coal is a fossil fuel obtained from the earth.
(ii) These are formed due to decaying of organic maters and animal wastes for millions of years under the ground.
(iii) There are many types of coal available in earth like Anthracite, Bituminous, lignite, peat,etc.
Coke:
(i) Coke is modified form of coal.
(ii) Coal obtained from the earth posses large amount of impurities like sulphure, volatile matters, ash,etc. when this impurities are removed,coal will large amount of fixed carbon. So, coke is the purest form of coal when large amount of carbon and this is obtained by heating the coal(bituminous) in absence of air.
