Number of cows = y
Then number of legs of hens = 2x
Number of legs of cows = 4y
Then
According to Ques
x + y = 40 .......(1)
x = 40 - y
2x + 4y = 128 .....(2)
put value of x in (2)
2*(40-y) + 4y = 128
=> 80 - 2y + 4y =128
=> 2y = 48
y = 24
and x = 16
