Mountains having rugged relief and high conical peaks are called young fold mountains. Whereas mountains having smooth slopes, rounded features and low elevation are called old fold mountains. Young fold mountains have very little wear and tear, they are new slopes. Old fold mountains have worn out peaks. Examples: old fold- aravallis and Appalachian Mountains; young fold- Himalayas and Alps
