Why do celestial bodies appear to move from east to west
  • 1 answers

Kritika Trehan 8 years, 1 month ago

In Earth's sky, the Sun, Moon, and stars appear to move from east to west because of the rotation of Earth (so-called diurnal motion).

The celestial objects appear to move across the sky from east to west because the earth is movimg about its axis from west to east. It takes nearly 24 hours for the earth to complete one revolution about its axis from west to east, but to us it appears that earth is stationary and various objects in space are moving from east to west.
