Metals, writing, the wheel and the plough were important to the Harappans because of the following reasons:

  1. Metals – These were used to make tools, vessels, weapons and ornaments. Some of the main metals found included gold, silver, bronze, tin, copper and lead.
  2. Writing – It was considered very important for the Harappans because it helped them to prepare a script, which in turn helped in keeping records and preparing the seals.
  3. Wheels – It played an important role in the lives of Harappans by allowing people to travel long distances and carry goods from one place to another. It was also used in spinning.
  4. Plough– It was used to plough earth for farming and planting seeds. Wooden plough with a copper or wooden ploughshare was used for tilling fields.

Wanda was a poor Polish immigrant girl. She was very quiet and reserved. She rarely said anything. She never laughed loudly. Sometimes she smiled with a twisted mouth. She used to go to school with American children. They made fun of Wanda because she claimed that she had a hundred dresses, though in reality, she had one old faded dress. She used to wear the same dress everyday to school and used to commute to school alone.
