Transformers
- A transformer is a device that changes voltage from one value to another.
- Power at the input end is equal to the power at the output end.
- Only the voltage will increase or decrease.
Principle:-
Transformers work on the principle of Mutual induction.
Mutual Induction :- Suppose there are 2 inductors if some current flows through coil(1) ,there will be change in the current as a result there will be change in the magnetic flux, as a result there will be change in the magnetic flux in the coil (2) and because of which emf is induced in the coil(2).

Charge of electron,q1=−1.6×10−19 C
Charge of proton, q2=+1.6×10−19 C
Distance between them,r=0.8×10−15 m
Coulomb's force is given by :
F=kq1q2r2
F=9×109×1.6×10−19 C×1.6×10−19 C(0.8×10−15 m)2
F=360 N
Hence, the force between the proton and electron is 360 N and it is attractive in nature.

Wheatstone bridge
- Wheatstone bridge is a special arrangement of resistors as shown in the figure.
- There are 4 resistances R1,R2,R3and R4 arranged in such a manner thatthere is a galvanometer placed between the points B and D.
- The arm BD is known as galvanometer arm. AC is known as battery arm.
- And circuit is connected to the battery across the pair of diagonally opposite points A and C.
- According to Wheatstone bridge principle:-
- If (R1/R2)=(R3/R4), then Bridge is said to be balanced.
- If the bridge is balanced there is no current flowing through the galvanometer arm.
