the dominant social system in medieval Europe, in which the nobility held lands from the Crown in exchange for military service, and vassals were in turn tenants of the nobles, while the peasants (villeins or serfs) were obliged to live on their lord's land and give him homage, labour, and a share of the produce, notionally in exchange for military protection.

Temperature and heat are the same. An iceberg has more heat than a cup of hot tea. Heat is the energy transferred between objects because of a temperature difference between them. 'Hot' and 'cold' are words that describe the temperature of an object.

There used to be great hustle and bustle in the school on normal days but that day there was silence all about the school. No noise of the opening and closing of desks and of lessons being repeated loudly in unison could be heard.
