Just as over fishing affects fisheries, our grasslands are being destroyed for wood and for commercial purposes such as land to hold our ever growing population. Some grasslands are even being torn down to create croplands and farmlands. With each successive harvest, we reduce the fertility of the soil and the lands deteriorate, hence turning into barren waste lands.

Good morning, Respected principal, teachers and my fellow. Today I stand before you to voice my concern on how media influences public opinion. Media is a powerful weapon in any democracy. It keeps people updated with the recent changes and development in the society and the world. It also helps them understand these developments and build their opinion about the same. With the development of better methods of communication from print and electronic media to a more recent social media, the influence of ‘media’ has increased. Consequently, its responsibility of delivering correct information has also increased. However, when media is unable to do so, the fact gets lost in the media frenzy. As a result, general public believes what they see, read or hear from the media and form an opinion even if it is incorrect. Some of the content children come across through media may not be appropriate for their age. Certain television programmes spread the wrong message in the pretext of creating awareness. Moreover, certain news channels have the tendency to over- sensationalise sensitive issue and present to the viewers half-baked news completely lacking empathy for the sufferer. As the media has the power to showcase both the facets of a piece of information, it should work towards helping the common man to understand the difference between the real news and the fake news. Media has a strong hold on society. It can do more than just spread the news. It can influence public opinion also. Therefore, it is the responsibility of media and the media personnel to ensure that they direct their efforts towards bringing forward the truth and only the truth. Thank you

In 1922, the method of investigation was invasive. They had to use chisels and hammers to break the mummy apart into pieces, so that they could get it out of the coffin and remove the jewellery. 80 years later, technology was far advanced.

The poet, Markus Natten, believes that he has lost his childhood. He believes so because he has lost the innocence and purity of his childhood. When he was a child, he used to believe in the existence of Hell and Heaven. He also believed that adults had real love. In his childhood, he didn’t have any egoistic attitude.

In this poem, the poet asks the soft falling raindrops that who she is. It is strange that the rain answers, calling itself the poem of the Earth. The rain says that she cannot be touched and rises up in the form of vapor out of the land and deep sea and floats up to heaven, where it changes its form and becomes a cloud but its core existence remains the same. Then it falls back to the surface of the Earth to refresh (wash) the drought-filled land. The seeds which are dormant under the soil, grow (germinate) with its help. The Earth becomes vital and beautiful because it always gives new life to the Earth when it returns to its origin (mother Earth). It makes the Earth clean and green. The poet says that the rain returns to its birth place (the Earth) making complete its cycle. It does not care whether anybody pays heed or not, rain continuously does her own work.
