The order that came from Berlin was that French was no longer to be taught in schools rather Germany was to be taught. No the people of France were feeling as if they are losing their identity. The villagers were affected because they did not learn French when taught and we're now regretting it. They felt losing something they own. Mr. M Hamel who was the French teacher wanted to give his best in the last lecture. He was feeling bad that he did not teach the students if he didn't feel like doing so and was unable to make everyone learn French. Franz who was totally uninterested in French was now feeling that he was losing his identity. He first time felt like the books were so precious. He regretted for not learning his native language till now.

Like Griffin, Dr Kemp was also a scientist who lived in Burdock. Actually, they both had gone to the same college. He was a tall and slender young man with flaxen hair and a moustache almost white.

He was ambitious which was clear from the fact that he wanted recognition of his achievements. But then he was also a speculative philosopher. The night that Griffin came to his house Dr Kemp was working on a remote speculation of social conditions of the future.
