The Invisible Man was given many names in this novel. At first, he was the stranger who arrived at Iping. Then, he was the Voice that startled everybody. However, his real name was Griffin.
Though he was the protagonist of the story, all his deeds were more like that of an antagonist. He was an eccentric scientist. Though he was a gifted scientist, he used his mind in a sinister was. He devised an experiment to become invisible and then started looting and murdering whoever came in his way.
He was very irritable and impatient. He lost his temper over pretty things and started hurting others. He had lost all his sense of conscience and didn’t feel sorry even after his burglary led to his father’s death. Although he was lonely and seemed to have been misunderstood from time to time, he failed to gain sympathy due to his murderous rage and evil ways.

Mrs Hall Character Sketch
Janny Hall, or better known as Mrs Hall, was the owner of the ‘Coach and Horses‘ inn in Iping. The first time we encountered her, she appeared to be an opportunist. She gave the stranger a room in her inn without showing much concern to confirm his identity. She was a bit money minded. She accommodated with Griffin’s rudeness and awkward behaviour only because she was being paid. However, she had a courteous side also which we see when she tried to know about Griffin.’s physical impairment and showed sympathy towards his state. She was superstitious and believed that her furniture was haunted. She was a dominating wife and didn’t shy away from giving her husband a lecture. Moreover, she could put her foot down if required. When she had enough of the stranger’s rudeness, she decided to set him straight and stopped serving him. She replied in such an angry tone that Griffin had to back away.

The stranger had no wish to entertain the neighborhood people, he did not speak a word and simply glared at Mr. Cuss for intruding upon his private space. Any question put to him succeeded in infuriate him further but when he accidentally revealed his empty sleeve, there was a moment of confusion and silence which the stranger and Mr. Cuss shared before the former turned the latter out of his room. The writer has dealt the serious facts in a very humorous and lighter mood. In the very beginning one can see the astrologer's prediction that the baby would be the warrior of warriors and the champion of champions after becoming adult but he would die some day. At this the ten day old baby asked the astrologers the manner of death. The chief astrologer told that he would die from a tiger. If that did not happen, he would tear his books and get his tuft cut. Side by side one can note that the prince is brought up in an English environment under the care of an English nurse.
After having taken the rein of his state, the king starts killing the tigers. In between a high ranking British officer expresses his desire to get himself with a dead tiger so as to brag of his bravery. To save his throne, he has to send rare samples of precious fifty diamond rings to the Englishman's wife. The greedy woman keeps the whole lot. He marries a royal daughter whose father has forests with large tiger population. One can note deep humour and satire in these facts. Then the dewan arranges for a tiger lest he should lost his job. The king is much happy to kill the hundredth tiger but he does not know the truth of its survival. As luck would have it, he purchases a wooden tiger to gift his son.
But this wooden tiger becomes the cause of this mighty Tiger King. Thus we can agree that all these details are humorously presented with an under current of satire and irony in the story ‘The Tiger King.’

Gold sands refer to the sand of deserts while azure is the color of the nature in spring season. Nothing grows in the desert. The world of the poor children is also like the desert sand. The irony in the expression is the impossibility of spring in the desert land.
