Too much activity and rush has only brought misfortunes to mankind. Hence, it is better to be quiet and still.

ii. Throughout his life, the peddler had never known respect. He was always treated coldly by the world. For the first time in his life, he was honoured and respected as if he were a captain. Even after the truth was exposed, the daughter continued to treat him in a similar way. The way he was treated encouraged him to behave in a like manner. He signed the letter as Captain von Stahle so as to underline the impact of Edla’s goodness on him.

Saheb gets some job at a tea stall. There the owner pays him Rs. 800/- and all his meals. The narrator now finds him with
a tin canister on his way to the milkbooth. But he has lost his carefree look. The canister seems heavier than the plastic
bag he would carry so lightly on his shoulder. This was his own bag but the canister belongs to his master. Thus Saheb
was no longer his own master.

Mukesh is truly not like other children. He has not allowed the harsh realities of his life kill his dreams. Though he is forced to work as child labor in bangle-making industry, he has a dream of becoming a motor mechanic.
However, the possibility of his dream becoming a reality is bleak. His circumstances are not encouraging. The grinding poverty of his family, nefarious nexus of middlemen, shahukars, corrupt policemen, bureaucrats and indifferent Government are apathetic to his dream. It appears his dream will remain a mere dream.
