This statement has great relevance in the context of the Antarctic environment. A small change in the environment can give rise to drastic developments. Antarctica has small biodiversity. The example of small grass called phytoplankton can be studied in this context. These microscopic grasses undergo the process of photosynthesis and serve as food for a number of marine birds and animals. The author says if there is further depletion of the ozone layer, it will affect the phytoplankton’s and the carbon cycle on the globe. This whole process can jeopardize the existence of all marine birds and animals. So if we take care that processes carried over by these small grasses are carried out properly, the bigger animals and birds will fall into the place on their own.

It was his responsibility to be loyal towards his ethics as well as to be loyal towards his country. Similarly, the servants were also in a dailyma of loyalty towards their master and their country. I don't think so that Mr. Lamb started thinking like Derry. He was very optimistic person whereas Derry was a pessimistic. Though Mr. Lamb became successful in changing Derry's outlook towards life. As Derry said he wanted to feel the nature by going back to Mr. Lamb.

Dear aunty,

Hope you are doing good! I am good as well. Received your invitation letter last week and I am so pleased that you have invited me for a week at your place at Manali. I was thinking to visit a place and spend my vacation. Then I came across your invitation. Manali has always been my favourite place to spend summer at. The chilly atmosphere is what I live for.

This is to let you know that I am booking flight tickets at my earliest convenience and flying all the way from Mumbai to Manali. Hopefully I'll be there by next week.

Yours lovingly,

COVID – 19 | The Coronavirus, a pandemic has made us realize that we all are connected and this entire world is a family. Although connected, medical experts have suggested social distancing as one of the perfect solution to fight against the new evil. Our honourable Prime Minister – Narendra Modi Ji indicated how COVID-19 chain can be splintered with the 21 days country lock-down. But to flatten the curve of COVID-19, the lock-down must be respected & accepted by 130 crore Indians altogether.Youth in India constitutes about more than one-fourth of the total population. We as a responsible youth of this country should participate in this battle against the zoonotic disease. Now, let’s understand the role of youth in this battle. To name some of them from the canvas of history – Lenin, the Russian youth had a major contribution to the Russian revolution Likewise Mazzini & Bhagat Singh also contributed their role for the country. This battle can be won by helping the government in this time of exigency. We can spread the right awareness in our Dosti, Family, XYZ, etc. 24 * 7 Watsapp group with the right information about the Virus. Watsapp/Social media groups always have as much as traffic on our roads. Let’s spread the right music among our acquaintances during this situation.Every religious activity has been on halt in lieu of corona-virus outbreak, Still if we see any of the gathering around. It’s our responsibility to guide and report if required. The Constitution of India, is the holy book for every Indian citizen & every-order must be accepted as a commandment. We live in a democracy & we have every right to put our thoughts on the table but this is the time to unite and stand with our government.Admittedly, there is much blot about being tested positive for COVID-19 and facing quarantine for a couple of week(s). But “Whatever gets measured gets managed”, If the positive cases are effectively measured, we shall be able to contain the outbreak effectively. So it’s our responsibility to spread the right kind of awareness within the family, society or acquaintances rather than wasting time on optional stuff. The outbreak of corona-virus has also affected the mental health of humans as everyone reacts differently to stressful situations. So in this hour of stress/anxiety let’s spread the right knowledge, right humours, right videos and ensure them that we are going to win this battle. To understand better “It is not the Corona-virus which is dangerous but it is the quick spread which is a threat”. Let’s us do our part and participate in this battle by staying at home.

ix How can the solutions, suggested in paragraph five, best be described? A. practical B. presentable C. popular D. prejudiced 1 x Select the most suitable title for the above passage. A. The Scary Side of Ghost Nets B. Ghost Nets – A Result of Human Dominance C. Ghost Nets – A Menace to Marine Life D. Ways to Tackle the Problem of Ghost Nets 1 II Read the passage given below. 10 1 It is generally accepted that leadership development should be a part of the education system's responsibility for preparing individuals to participate in a democratic and progressive society. Many schools, colleges and universities, across nations, provide their students with leadership courses, curricular programs and co-curricular programs that are designed to develop students’ formal knowledge about leadership as well as opportunities and experiences to develop students as leaders and actually practise leadership. Yet, only a handful of studies have sought to understand leader development from the students’ point of view, with students describing their own experiences and what they learned from them in their own words. 2 A 2014 descriptive study sought to understand student leadership with research through key events via the following research questions: Research Question 1: What key events do student leaders in college, report as significantly impacting their development as a leader? Research Question 2: What lessons do student leaders in college, report learning as a result of the key events they have experienced? Research Question 3: Are certain key events more likely to be linked to particular lessons? Approximately 130 students were contacted and the 72 interested, were interviewed. Two members of the research team were present for each 15–45-minute interview. One member served as the primary interviewer while the second ran the audio equipment. The results for lessons learned (Table 1), were varied, but there were a few that were frequently quoted

Read the passage given below. 10 1 Ghost nets aren’t supernatural, but they are legitimately scary. A ghost net is a fishing net that’s been lost or abandoned in the ocean. They are one particularly appalling part of the global ghost fishing problem, which includes fishing gear abandoned in the water. Any net or line left in the ocean can pose a threat to marine life. Just because a net is no longer used by fishers doesn’t mean it stops working. These nets continue to trap everything in their path, presenting a major problem for the health of our oceans and marine life. 2 Ghost nets entangle sea turtles, dolphins and porpoises, birds, sharks, seals and more, apart from catching fish. The nets keep animals from moving freely, cause injuries and keep mammals and birds from rising to the surface for air. Since hundreds of animals can be caught in a single net, this threat is monumental. The ghost nets harm coral reefs too—breaking corals, exposing them to disease and even blocking the reefs from needed sunlight. 3 Ghost nets are also a major contributor to the ocean plastics’ crisis. Most modern nets are made of nylon or other plastic compounds that can last for centuries. According to a 2018 study in Scientific Reports, ghost nets make up at least 46 percent of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Those abandoned fishing lines and nets that do breakdown never go away; they just become smaller pieces of plastic. Marine animals mistake this microplastic for food and eat it, which can harm internal organs, keep them from eating and expose them to toxic chemicals. 4 Exorcising ghost nets from our oceans will require commitment, cooperation and innovation. Many groups are working to remove ghost nets from the sea and are collaborating with local fishers and governments around the world to identify target areas and remove as many nets as possible. In 2015, a single World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF)-led mission in the Baltic Sea hauled up 268 tons of nets, ropes and other material. 5 To stop these nets from becoming ghosts in the first place, conservation organisations advocate for fishing gear that can be traced to its owner so anyone dumping nets can be fined and refundable deposits on nets to encourage returning or recycling rather than littering. Tools like sonar reflectors that can make ghost nets easier to find and working with small-scale fisheries to develop more sustainable fishing gear and practic

Franz was a student in one of the schools in the districts of Alsace. Having a poor family set up, the boy was often asked to work in some mill for earning some money. But the family could not pay due attention towards his education, so the boy loved outside environment and wanted to enjoy it. In the school too, he often loved to work in the garden. He became fond of shirking from work and used to put off his learning as well as home task. But he was much scared of his teacher M. Hamel.

In addition to this, the boy had an acute sense of understanding, feeling, recognition and respect. Entering the school, he sensed unusualness and calmness there. He was much surprised at this and was rather troubled to know that his teacher was leaving them because of an order from Berlin had banned the teaching of French. During the writing period, he noticed sad expressions over the face of M. Hamel. When the teacher taught a lesson in grammar, it left an indelible impression on the boy. He felt that the teacher was going to pour everything in their minds. Then the teacher wrote on the blackboard ‘Long Live France’. The boy was deeply moved and he recognised his teacher for his worth. Thus Franz had all the senses of head and heart.
