While she saw Saheb-e-alam with his barefoot friends, it reminded her of that young boy of Udipi who used to pray for a pair of shoes. After 30 yrs she saw another boy ther wearing shoes, but realised that children like those ragpickers are still shoeless.

Sanskriti S 6 years, 10 months ago

They do not own a pair of shoes. For some, there is not lack of money but staying barefoot is a tradition, however this is just an excuse to explain away a perpetual state of poverty.

Shreya Dalwani 6 years, 10 months ago

Because they don't have money to buy shoes...nd to cover this up they say that it's a tradition

They 've money for carrying out their business of bangle making but not enough to eat. Years of mind numbing toil' ve killed all ability to dream. Young men echo the same lament as their elders nd talk endlessly in a spiral from poverty to apathy to greed nd to injustice.

Shreya Dalwani 6 years, 10 months ago

The theme of the poem, ‘An elementary school classroom’ is the plight of poor children living in slums. The poet, Stephen Spender wants the life of the slum children be changed. He wants their poverty to end. He wishes them to live in healthier, hygienic and beautiful environment. He wants their future to be bright and full of hope. According to the poet, their lives can only be changed if governor, teacher, inspector, visitor, and people do more to help them. Mere paltry donations won't solve their problems of poverty, illiteracy, and backwardness. The rich people and the government will have to do more for them.

Priyanka Sachdeva 6 years, 10 months ago

The theme of the poem describes the living of children in slum still they tend to educate themselves and attend their study sessions in slum classrooms .. even they are ill malnutritioned and dull but they carry huge dreams which are somehow fake hopes in practicality and might it be fulfilled

Stabya Maheshwari 6 years, 10 months ago

The society and government agencies neglect the poor and downtrodden people. They are deprived of the basic rights like education, employment, health and hygiene. This is possible only when the haves realize their duty towards the have-nots

One world is of the family, caught in the web of poverty, burdened by the stigma of caste in which they are born ; the other is the vicious circle of middlemen, keepers of law, politicians, bureaucrats-who 've imposed the baggage on the child.

Priyanka Sachdeva 6 years, 10 months ago

Frst world is of saheb e alam ... who lives freely and do the work of garbage picking bt now he is not his own master due to the wrok at a tea stall he is under a tea stall owner so his world is now changed on the pther hand .. mukesh did the wrk of bangle making as his ancestors wrk continues till generations but still have high dreams of being a motor mechanic .. evn in that subjucation he thinks abt his drms to be achieved.. these are two types of world seen by the writer

Rag pickers live a life full of sadness and struggle in poverty and subjucation .... the garbage meant everything to them .. for children a coin or a ten ruppee note is wrapped in wonder as if as a gold or a surprise but for elder it is meant of survival there only way to live and earn for their living .. this is the situation in seemapuri

Sakshi Bhambri 6 years, 10 months ago

The rag pickers of seemapuri lived a miserable life in structures of mud. With roofs of tin and tarpaulin, devoid of sewage, drainage nad running water. Morover, they are living there since 30yrs without any identity without permits but only with ration card that get their names on voters' list to enable them to buy grain.as food is more important for survival than identity.

Saurabh Tiwari 6 years, 10 months ago

First line means for slum children it is wonder because some time they a rupee and some 10rs.

An invisible man is man of power .. this statement suits the griffin as he was a model of science .... he was so intrested in science from his college times that he himself did the experiments and created a portion of invisibility ... he was powerful enough to try that on himself ... he had power and intelligence thats the another thing that he covert the power into insanity and become inhuman otherwise he was a man of power
