Gandhi ji saw the cultural and social backwardness in the Champaran villages. In order to educate them he made an appeal for teachers. During his long stay at Champaran, Gandhiji taught people self-reliance and freedom from the fear of the British. Thus he paved the path for the freedom of lndia.

How Far is it Justified for Children to Participate in TV Programmes?
by Sukanya
Children up to the age of 12 years have been participating in TV programmes, bearing a lot of stress and neglecting their studies at such a prime time of their life. Today, the entertainment industry comprises a large number of child artists who gain much fame at a very early stage in their lives. Taking part in television programmes is the result of such unhealthy competitions, whose unbearable pressure provokes the children to do something at a very young stage. Most of their time is consumed or rather wasted in such participation when they should be concentrating more on their studies at this age. The children are so obsessed with the programmes, that they do pay the least attention towards their books. They are occupied with their schedule so much that they have the least stamina to study after returning home. Thus, the golden time of their life is invested in doing TV programmes and entertainment.
Others enjoy their act but how many of us bother about their prospects? It is not always possible for a child artist to gain the same success on maturity. So what would they become when they grow up? People should first prioritise their basic studies and then come into the entertainment business. It is not justified for children below the age of 12 years to be involved in TV programmes.

M. Hamel
M. Hamel was
a true French man. Teaching at Alsace for forty years, he had become a part of
its people. He was an honest teacher. He did not blame his
students alone for poor
learning. He also held himself responsible for the same. He was very patriotic
as he appealed to his countrymen to hold fast to their mother
tongue to be free from the Prussians. According to him the French language was the most beautiful, the clearest and the most logical language in the world. He urged on his countrymen to guard it and never forget it. He was deeply attached to the school
and all his students. However, he was very brave and strong. He was really regretful
for not making sincere efforts to teach French to his countrymen. At the end,
he became so emotional that he could not speak.
Franz
Franz was a very young boy living in Alsace district of France. He had a layman's attitude to studies. At the beginning we find him feeling tempted to skive his school. However, we also come to know his inner strength of character when he overcomes that temptation.
We come to know his patriotism and love for his teacher after he comes to know about the sad news of the new order according to which teaching of French had to be replaced with German. He is shocked to know that that was M. Hamel's last lesson.
We see him getting remorseful for having ignored learning French. He wants to learn all the French in just one period. He is very sad at the departure of his teacher.

The Principal
Mountview Public School
Kalka, New Delhi
11th February, 20XX
The Chairperson
Education for All
New Delhi
Respected Madam,
Subject: Funds required for replacement of blackboards
I, as both a citizen and the Principal of the school run by your NGO, appreciate the efforts that your NGO is taking to educate the children of the deprived sections of the society. Our school will soon be celebrating it's tenth anniversary. As the Principal, I realise that the school needs some fixtures. The most urgent one needed at present is the replacement of the blackboards in the classrooms. The blackboards are either damaged, worn out or totally unusable. I suggest that we should replace them with permanent whiteboards, as these are more durable and can also be used to project slides as well as for using audio-visual teaching equipments, as per the necessity in today’s education scenario.
I, thus, request you to release funds for this purpose at the earliest. l am enclosing a quotation with this letter for the whiteboards from a local supplier to help you understand the amount of funds required.
Thanking you!
Yours sincerely,
Shweta Pandit
Principal
