  • Reality is what happens in our real world and not what we think. For example if it is raining, the reality is that it is raining.
  • However, someone can give what is really happening a blind eye because maybe it is too tough.
  • When someone created a world of his own and lets their mind roam in that world rather than the real world, then that shall be reffered to as a temporary refuge from reality.
  • Reality is here to stay, it is what happens, so one can only stay out of reality in fantasy for a while which is temporary.

William O Douglas believed in Roosevelt's words "All we have to be feared it to fear itself" because it's only the fear of anything that give us the sense of fear. That terror that fear of anything produces stop us to live with courage which we may show towards something is suppressed by the fear. Thus, it is said that fear is the most dangerous enemy of the individual.

Tanya ?? 4 years, 11 months ago

When Douglas decided to overcome his childhood fear of water he preferred to go to YMCA swimming pool to learn swimming because it was safe. It was only two or three feet deep at the shallow end; and although it was nine feet at the other end, the drop was quite gradual.

Douglas had experienced both the sensation of dying and the terror that the fear of death can cause. Strong will, hard determination, courage and toil as well as honest labour won over all his terrors and fears. The will to live brushed aside all his fears.
In reality all our fears are only psychological, and can be easily won over, if we can control our mind. This realisation makes Douglas resolve to learn swimming by engaging an instructor. This instructor, piece by piece, built Douglas into a swimmer. However, his first step was to drive away Douglas? fear of water, before training him in swimming techniques. When Douglas tried and swam the length of the pool up and down, small traces of his old terror of water would return. So, he went to Lake Wentworth, dived at Triggs Island and swam two miles across the lake to Stamp Act Island. Finally, he was certain that he had conquered his fear of water.

Hamel was very disturbed because it was going to be the last class of his on French. French was his mother-tongue and France his motherland. He loved his country a great deal. However, when Franz could answer the chapter, he rebukes everyone for not spending enough time in learning the language.

However, when Franz could answer the chapter, he rebukes everyone for not spending enough time in learning the language. He blames the parents for being reluctant in sending their children to schools. The parents instead of sending the children to school, preferred sending them to the farm for work and some more money. M. Hamel also blames himself. He apologizes for sending the students to water his flower plants during the class hours, and also giving a leave to his students for going out for fishing.

M. Hamel and the villagers were exceedingly regretful for having neglected the learning of the French language.  M Hamel blamed the inhabitants of Alsace and Lorraine for their lackadaisical attitude to learning French. He even blamed himself for not teaching the French language seriously, as he gave holidays to his students when he wanted to enjoy leisure activities such as fishing and gardening.

Both M. Hamel and the villagers were proud of their mother tongue also. According to the teacher, the French language is the most beautiful, the clearest and the most logical language in the world. He appealed to his countrymen to guard it and never forget it. The villagers loved their mother tongue also; this was the reason almost all of them had come to attend the last lesson of their beloved teacher.

Primary schools were also opened in six villages to teach children. Kasturba taught the ashram rules on personal cleanliness and community sanitation. In order to improve the miserable health conditions Gandhiji got a doctor. He volunteered his services for six months.

Kasturba talked to the women to get rid of their filthy state of clothes. During his long stay at Champaran, Gandhiji taught people self-reliance and freedom from the fear of the British. Thus he paved the path for the freedom of india.

Dr. Sadao was not sent to the battlefield the troops because of two reasons.
(1) He had perfected a discovery which would render wounds entirely clean
(2) The General might have needed some operation urgently and Dr. Sadao was the best doctor
available for need.

Yogita Ingle 4 years, 11 months ago

Sadao was a famous surgeon and scientist. He had mastered the art of healing wounds. The old General of Japan had full faith in his abilities as a surgeon. He did not believe any other doctor. He was not keeping good health and could require a surgery any time, so Sadao was not sent with the troops abroad.

From the very beginning, Douglas was much eager to learn swimming. When he was three or four years old, his father took him to the beach in California. He was standing in the surf. A strong wave knocked him down and he was buried in water. His breath was gone. He was much frightened but his father was holding him. Even then, the boy was much terrified by the destructive force of the wave. He developed an aversion to water.

Next time, when he was ten or eleven years old he resolved to learn swimming. He went to the Y.M.C.A. pool at Yakima. He was sitting there alone waiting for others to come. A big muscular boy addressed him ‘Skinny’ and asked him to be ducked. He tossed up Douglas and threw him into the deep end of the pool. He went down to the bottom and got panicky. This experience further strengthened the terror and fear of water in his mind and personality.

Franz entered the school. He noticed many unusual things in the school. It was all so still, calm and quiet like Sunday morning. The whole school looked strange and solemn. There was no hustle and bustle. The rapping of the teacher’s ruler on the table was not heard. The voice of the students repeating the lessons and the opening and closing of the desks was not heard. It was quite unusual and surprising.
