Due to the import substitution policy Indian producers were free to charge as much as they could from consumers. As well as consumers were bound to purchase whatever indian producers produces. And also the quality of the produced products were too bad and producers were not bound to correct that due to absence of competition. The result was only that the consumers were under the power of producers. Producers were gaining profit and consumers were getting law quality products in return.

This export surplus did not result in any flow of gold or silver into India. There was drain of India's wealth into Britain.

Duty free exports are those on which one doesn't has to pay tax or other duties while exporting such goods. And it helped a lot Britishers to exploit India . As they declared that there will not be any type of tax or duty in exporting raw materials to other nations but on the other hand they were charging a huge amount on export of handicrafts . That's why the cheap raw material from india helped British to furnish their own industrial sector and exploit india with duty free imports on finish goods from british and heavy taxes on exporting finished goods to other countries.

The main features of capital goods are two : one is they are of high value and second is their life span is of several years. If one good has a long life span but is of relatively low value then it will not be consider as a capital good. Example plant and machinery are capital goods but the screw nuts are not capital goods because they have a long life span but are of low value.
