Transposons also called as jumping genes are the gene sequences present in the genome of eukaryotic cells that can jump to different locations within a genome. These cause RNA interferance (RNAi) by silencing specific sequence of DNA and is used as method of cellular defense by all eukarypotic cells.
Transposons that replicate via RNA intermediate are called retrotransposon. Retrotransposons are the types of transposons that copy themselves to RNA and then back to DNA so that it may integrate back to the genome.

Ameiotic Thelytoky - In this type of parthenogenesis, during oogenesis first meiotic division does not take place but second meiotic division occurs as usual. In this situation the ovum still remains diploid. These ova, when reproduce parthenogenetically give rise to diploid off springs. For example, Trichoniscus, Daphnia, Daphnia pulex etc.

Hormonal control of spermatogenesis
- Spermatogenesis starts at the age of puberty due to significant increase in the secretion of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) from hypothalamus.
- The increases level of gonadotropin releasing hormone stimulates the anterior pituitary to secrete luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicle stimulating hormone(FSH).
- LH acts at the Leydig cells and stimulates synthesis and secretion of androgens.
- Androgens stimulate the process of spermatogenesis.
- FSH acts on the Sertoli cells and secrete two factors- androgen binding protein (ABP) and inhibin which helps in spermiogenesis.

Pollen grains have the same specific gravity as that of water. Therefore pollens can float below the surface of the water. When pollens reach the stigma, they coiled around it and germinate. Hydrophily is a fairly uncommon form of pollination whereby pollen is distributed by the flow of waters, particularly in rivers and streams. Hydrophilous species fall into two categories: (i) Those that distribute their pollen to the surface of the water. e.g. Vallisneria's male flower or pollen grain are released on the surface of the water, which are passively carried away by water currents; some of them eventually reach the female flower (ii) Those that distribute it beneath the surface. e.g. seagrasses in which female flower remain submerged in water and pollen grains are released inside the water.

Chargaff's rule states that DNA from any cell of any organism has a 1:1 ratio of pyrimidine and purine bases and, more specifically, that the amount of guanine, a purine base, is equal to cytosine, a pyrimidine base; and the amount of adenine, a purine base, is equal to thymine, a pyrimidine base.
The rules of base pairing (or nucleotide pairing) are:
- A with T: the purine adenine (A) always pairs with. the pyrimidine thymine (T)
- C with G: the pyrimidine cytosine (C) always pairs with. the purine guanine (G)
