Trade union play an important role for the welfare of workers:

In some cases, trade unions have been striving to overcome problems such as regionalism and casteism
Trade unions with its united strength, ensure fair wages and benefits such as medical facility, pensions, paid sick leave and paid vacations for them.
Trade unions provide them a powerful and collective voice to communicate with management about their dissatisfaction and frustration. It can also help to break strikes/lockouts.
