    केबिनेट मिशन 19476 में भारत आया था । इस मिशन में सर स्टेफर्ड क्रिप्स, लार्ड पथिक लॉरेंस और A V अलेक्जेंडर थे। ये तीनो ब्रिटिश संसद में कैबिनेट मंत्री थे इस लिए इस मिशन का नाम 'केबिनेट मिशन' रखा गया। 1942 के क्रिप्स मिशन के असफल होने के बाद इसे भारत मे संविधान निर्माण की प्रक्रिया अवरूद्ध हो गयी थी तो उसे ठीक करके एक संविधान सभा का गठन करने में लिए भेजा। दूसरा इसे सत्ता का हस्तांतरण करने के लिए भेजा गया था ।
