An atmosphere is a blanket of gases that surrounds Earth. It is held near the surface of the planet by Earth’s gravitational attraction. Argon, oxygen and nitrogen from the three main constitutions of the atmosphere.
The atmosphere:
- contains the air that we breathe
- helps retain the sun’s heat and prevents it from escaping back into space
- protects life from harmful radiation from the sun
- plays a major role in Earth’s water cycle
- helps keep the climate on Earth moderate

Standard Meridian is the meridian (longitude)which is used to describe time of a country , it should be the same for the whole country and all the places in a country should follow this same time
The standard meridian of India is 82.5 ° E and it passes through the center of our country and passes through Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh
its significance is that
1)there will be no confusion about time in an country
2)all the places in a particular country will have the same time

Soil broadly consists of four layers. These are:
- Top Soil: This is the outer thin layer. It contains fine particles and organic matter. It is on this layer that plants and crops grow.
- Sub soil: This layer lies below the top soil. It contains materials which are removed from the top soil.
- Weathered Rock: This layer lies below the sub soil. It is in first stage of soil formation.
- Bed Rock or the Parent Rock: This is un-weathered rock. It determines the nature of the soil.
