Lake Manasarovar is considered to be the source of great Indian rivers. These are the Indus, the Ganges, the Sutlej and the Brahmaputra. Actually only the Sutlej flows from the lake. The headwaters of the others all rise nearby on the flanks of Mount Kailash.
Being the source of great rivers, The Lake Manasarovar is considered Tibet's most venerated stretch of water.
