12 ml CxHy+50 ml(x+y/4)O2=xCO2+y/2 H2O ∴ volume of O2 (required to react with CxHy) =(x+y /4)volume of CxHy =(x+y/4)×12--------(1) After passing over KOH, CO2 is absorbed Then volume of O2 (remained) = 8 ml (2)⇒{50−12(x+y/4)}+12x=32 50−12x−3y+12x=32 50−3y=32⇒y= 50-32/3=6 (3)⇒50−12(x+y/4)=8 ⇒50−12x−3y=8 ⇒50−12x−18=8 ⇒2x=32−8 x=24/12=2 ∴ Hydrocarbon is C2H6 Note:- Volume of H2O is not taken because the volume measured at temp. below 1000C where it is liquid. However question doesn't specify it.

In the first circle of we take 2 atoms in second circle we take 8 atoms...This depends on the atomic number of a Element For example-We take Oxygen(O²),the atomic number of oxygen is 8...So,in that 8 we should 2 atoms in the first circle now, 6 atoms left...At second circle we can hold 8 atoms maximum....So,there is 6 atoms left we should replace it to 2nd circle now two places left,so the valency of Oxygen should be 2 and the electronic configuration should be÷ K L 2 6
