It is the distance from the center of the nucleus to the point up to which the density of the electron cloud is maximum. Electron cloud is the region of electron surrounding an atomic nucleus that is associated with an atomic orbital. It is the region with a high probability of containing electron.

Ankit Jha 7 years, 1 month ago

A gas can be converted into a liquid through a process called liquefaction. Liquefaction of a gas can occur only when the intermolecular force of attraction between the gas molecules are increased.

Jay Prakash Patel 7 years, 1 month ago

~Vihaan ~ 7 years, 2 months ago

Radioactive isotope, also called radioisotope, or radionuclide, , any of several species of the same chemical element with different masses whose nuclei are unstable and dissipate excess energy by spontaneously emitting radiation in the form of alpha, beta, and gamma rays.

Significance of van der Waals’ parameter ‘a’: It is the measure of the magnitude of attractive forces between the molecules of a gas. Unit: atm L2 mol−2 or bar L2 mol−2 Larger the value of ‘a’, larger will be the intermolecular force of attraction. It is independent of pressure and temperature. Significance of van der Waals’ parameter ‘b’: It is the measure of the effective size of gas molecules. Unit: L mol−1

he hydrogen bonding in water causes the water molecules to be associated with each other due to intermolecular forces of attraction, whereas in the case of hydrogen sulphide, these forces of attraction area much weaker. So, lesser energy is required to overcome the forces of interaction between the hydrogen sulphide molecules than those between water molecules. This energy is available at room temperature and hence, hydrogen sulphide is a gas, while water is still a liquid.
