The Solvay process is used for the manufacture sodium carbonate Na2CO3 (washing soda). In this process, brine (NaCl), NH3 and CO2 are the raw materials. The steps involved in this process are: 1. Purification of saturated brine 2. Reaction of saturated brine with gaseous ammonia 3. The ammoniated brine is carbonated with CO2 to form NaHCO3 4. NaHCO3 is insoluble in brine solution. so it can be filtered out. 5. On heating, NaHCO3 decomposes to Na2CO3 6. CaCO3 is also used to provide CO2.

Inert pair effect is mostly shown by the 15-17th group elements. That is, the oxidation state reduces by 2 for elements down the group, which is more stable than the other oxidation states. The reason for this is the inertness of the inner electrons due to poor shielding............??

Wavenumber - no. Of wavelengths per unit length. Wavenumber equals to reciprocal of wavelength.

Prakhar J 6 years, 11 months ago

the wavelength is the spatial period of a periodic wave—the distance over which the wave's shape repeats. It is thus the inverse of the frequency.

It states that when a change is made in any of the factors that determines the equilibrium conditions of a system will cause a system to change in such a way so as to reduce or conteract the effect of the change

Ayushi Ayushi 6 years, 11 months ago

Le Chatelier's principle states that when a system in chemical equilibrium is disturbed by a change of temperature, pressure, or a concentration, the system shifts in equilibrium composition in a way that tends to counteract this change of variable.

A white caustic alkaline substance consisting of calcium oxide, which is obtained by heating limestone and which combines with water with the production of much heat; lime. Slaked lime is chemically calcium hydroxide, and its chemical formula is Ca(OH)2. It is a white coloured solid which is obtained when water is added to calcium oxide (CaO). Lime water on the other hand is a saturated solution of slaked lime in water.

Because in the formation of HE2 molecule repulsive force between the atoms is dominant over attractive force

Prakhar J 6 years, 11 months ago

Since , single molecule of He has complete its duplet and become inert. And we know that inert gases donot react. So formation of He ^2 is not possible. Also if you want to confirm mathematically you may find the bond order. If it comes zero, it wont exist....,......,...,........????
