Electromagnetic waves are waves that are created as a result of vibrations between an electric field and a magnetic field.
Characteristics of electromagnetic waves:
- Electromagnetic waves are produced by accelerating or oscillating charge.
- E.M. waves do not require any material medium for their propagation.
- E.M. waves travel in free space with a velocity {tex}C = \frac{1}{{\sqrt {{\mu _0}{\varepsilon _0}} }}{/tex} which is equal to the velocity of light {tex}(c = 3 \times {10^8}m/s){/tex}.
- E.M. waves are transverse in nature.

A 1 molar solution is a solution in which 1 mole of a compound is dissolved in a total volume of 1 litre.
Molality, also called molal concentration, is a measure of the concentration of a solute in a solution in terms of amount of substance in a specified amount of mass of the solvent.
1 molar aqueous solution is more concentrated than 1 molal aqueous solution .
1 molar solution contain 1 mole of solute in 1 litre of the solution which include both solute and solvent.

Molarty of a solution is given by ,
Molarity (M) = ( Number of moles of the solute ) / ( Volume of solution in Litres )
Molar mass of sugar (C12H22O11) = 12 {tex}\times{/tex}12 + 22 {tex}\times{/tex} 1 {tex}\times{/tex} 11 {tex}\times{/tex} 16 = 342 g mol-1
No. of moles in 20 g of sugar = ( Mass of sugar ) / ( molar mass of sugar ) = {tex}\frac{20 \mathrm{g}}{342 \mathrm{g} \mathrm{mol}^{-1}}{/tex} = 0.0585 moles
Thus,
Molar concentration or Molarity (M) = 0.0585 mol / 2L = 0.02925 mol L-1
