Molarty of a solution  is given by ,
Molarity (M)  = ( Number of moles of the solute )  /  ( Volume of solution in Litres )
Molar mass of sugar (C12H22O11) = 12 {tex}\times{/tex}12 + 22 {tex}\times{/tex}{tex}\times{/tex} 11 {tex}\times{/tex} 16 = 342 g mol-1
No. of moles in 20 g of sugar  = ( Mass of sugar ) / ( molar mass of sugar ) = {tex}\frac{20 \mathrm{g}}{342 \mathrm{g} \mathrm{mol}^{-1}}{/tex} =  0.0585 moles
Thus,
Molar concentration or  Molarity (M)  =  0.0585 mol / 2L  = 0.02925 mol L-1

Electromagnetic waves are waves that are created as a result of vibrations between an electric field and a magnetic field.
Characteristics of electromagnetic waves:

  1. Electromagnetic waves are produced by accelerating or oscillating charge.
  2. E.M. waves do not require any material medium for their propagation.
  3. E.M. waves travel in free space with a velocity {tex}C = \frac{1}{{\sqrt {{\mu _0}{\varepsilon _0}} }}{/tex} which is equal to the velocity of light {tex}(c = 3 \times {10^8}m/s){/tex}.
  4. E.M. waves are transverse in nature.

Molarity is defined as number of moles divided by the volume (in liters). Molality is defined as the number of moles divided by the mass of the solution (in kg). molality = no. of moles of solute/ wt. of solvent. if density of solvent is given we can find out relation between molality and morality

Homogeneous and heterogeneous thermodynamic systems A homogeneous thermodynamic system is defined as the one whose chemical composition and physical properties are the same in all parts of the system, or change continuously from one point to another. ... The homogeneous bodies of a heterogeneous system are referred to as phases.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 6 months ago

Homogeneous system: A system is said to be homogeneous if all the constituents present are in the same phase and the composition of the system is uniform throughout.

A 1 molar solution is a solution in which 1 mole of a compound is dissolved in a total volume of 1 litre.
Molality, also called molal concentration, is a measure of the concentration of a solute in a solution in terms of amount of substance in a specified amount of mass of the solvent.
1 molar aqueous solution is more concentrated than 1 molal aqueous solution .
1 molar solution contain 1 mole of solute in 1 litre of the solution which include both solute and solvent.

Molecular Formula= n × empirical formula where n = Molar mass/ empirical formula mass

Thakur Nobody 6 years, 6 months ago

Molecular formulas tell you how many atoms of each element are in a compound, and empirical formulas tell you the simplest or most reduced ratio of elements in a compound. If a compound's molecular formula cannot be reduced any more, then the empirical formula is the same as the molecular formula

Electronegativity is a measure of the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons. The Pauling scale is the most commonly used. While Electron gain enthalpy is defined as the amount of energy released when an electron is added to an isolated gaseous atom. During the addition of an electron, energy can either be released or absorbed. Sign Convention For Electron Gain Enthalpy: Negative: When energy is released while accepting an electron. Positive: When energy is supplied to an atom while adding an electron
