लोग उनकी जायदाद के पीछे पड़े हैं तो उन्हें उन सब लोगों की याद आई जिन्होंने अपने
परिवार के मोह में आकर अपनी जमीन उनके नाम कर दी थी और अपने अंतिम दिन तक कष्ट
भोगते रहे। वे लोग भोजन तक के लिए तरसते रहे। इसलिए उन्होंने सोचा कि ऐसा जीवन
व्यतीत करने से तो एक बार मरना अच्छा है। उन्होंने तय किया कि जीते जी किसी को
जमीन नहीं देंगे। वे मरने को तैयार थे। इसीलिए लेखक कहते हैं कि अज्ञान की स्थिति
में मनुष्य मृत्यु से डरता है परन्तु ज्ञान होने पर मृत्यु वरण को तैयार रहता
है।
