The power of a pen is enormously larger than a sword. What a sharp edged sword can't achieve can be achieved by the help of a minute tip of a pen. What it implies is that the power of writing is much stronger than the power of hatred, war, and fighting. A war always ends in killings and has only a single directional ending - defeat, death, loss... There is no end of the tunnel when a war is there, and even if it comes, there is no light...

Writing is priceless. Can we pay back for the stories told in our childhood - by parents, grandparents, teachers and elder siblings. Can we pay back for the stories read during our childhood from storybooks, comics etc bought for a meager cost but the impression of those stories, learning gained from those stories and the legacy that is carried from generation after generation... gives us a return that the amount paid for buying those books seems minuscule but the return is huge. The story of one stick versus a bundle of sticks that taught us the power of unity - a collection of just a few words but providing us a lesson for life. There are so many examples of such writing we read during the childhood that stays with us till the last breath.

 Miss Sullivan as Inspiration

Miss Sullivan inspired Helen through the qualities of her love, care, and deep knowledge. She was herself the victim of visual
disability. She had overcome it with sheer practice. She was perfect in
teaching children suffering from visual and hearing disabilities. She knew the
manual alphabet and other teaching techniques. She won Helen's confidence
convincingly.
Miss Sullivan was an extraordinary teacher. The world is full of ordinary teachers
who just teach shallowly. Miss Sullivan touched the depths of Helen's soul and
brought light to her darkened world.

The day she arrived at Helen's house, Helen called that day the most important
day of her life. Helen compared the arrival of her teacher to the shining of
'light of love' in her darkened life.

Miss Sullivan took unprecedented pains to
teach Helen manual alphabet. Since Helen was suffering from hearing as well as
visual disabilities, Miss Sullivan really had to work very hard to teach Helen
the alphabet. Initially Helen did not accept all her explanations, techniques
and methodology, but after Miss Sullivan won Helen’s confidence, Helen had
complete faith in her.  Miss Sullivan understood Helen thoroughly. She
knew how to make things clear to her. Whether it was teaching her the
difference between ‘w-a-t-e-r’ and ‘m-u-g’ or teaching her the word ‘d-o-l-l’
for both the dolls, Miss Sullivan knew the methodology.

In the 7 chapter, Helen praises Miss Sullivan in the following words: "Thus I
learned from life itself. At the beginning I was only a mass of possibilities.
It was my teacher who unfolded and developed them. When she came, everything
about me breathed of love and joy and was full of meaning." It was Miss
Sullivan's genius, her sympathy, her loving tact which made the first years of
Helen's education so beautiful. Miss Sullivan made learning easy and fun-filled
for Helen.

Miss Sullivan stood by Helen during her challenges and ordeals. When the dark clouds
of Frost King incident darkened her already dark world, she stood by her as
light; at Cambridge school, she worked very hard to help Helen cope up with the
stress of the academics. Even at Radcliffe college she tried to lessen Helen’s
hardships.

The lesson 'Dear Departed' focuses on the family values that
are dwindling fast in the society. Materialism has so much affected the modern
man's life that even the respectful  relationship between father and
daughters has become tainted with it. The lesson highlights this aspect of the
tainted relationship with unmatched craftsmanship by weaving a wonderful and
absorbing sequence of events. The poetic justice at the end is the real mastery
of the playwright. Abel's vengeful  response to the selfish daughters
leaves them stupefied and stunned. They are left penitent and remorseful for
their meanness. Thus the theme of the play quite interesting and edifying.

Miss Sullivan did not believe in formal class-room teaching. She introduced the play-way method into her teaching making Helen study outdoors. She made Helen actually feel the nature and its creations. She explained Helen all about earth, poles, mountains, valleys, and drifts in such a way that she could actually understand and feel the things around her.
This manner of teaching helped Helen to learn things faster. It became much easier for her to imagine, understand and remember things.

Miss Sullivans had taken Helen by the hand across the fields where men were preparing the earth for the seed, to the banks of the Tennessee River. Sitting on the warm grass, she began the first lessons for Helen in the beneficence of nature. Helen learned how the sun and rain make the ground give life to trees that are not only pleasant to the sight but also good for food, how birds build their nest and thrive from land to land. Also, how every creature finds food and shelter. As Helen's knowledge of these things grew, she felt more and more the delight of the world she lived in. Long before she learned to do a sum in arithmetic or describe the shape of the earth, Miss Sullivan had taught her to find the beauty in the fragrant woods, in every blade of grass and in the curves and dimples of her baby sister's hand. She linked her earliest thoughts with nature and made her attuned to the beauty that abounds in the world.

In the poem, the character of frog and nightingale, frog by Vikram Seth is portrayed in contrast to Nightingale. The frog has been shown to be troubled, proud and humiliated. As we see, it is arrogant of the talent that does not have it. He sings loudly in a rough, harsh voice that harms everyone. Everyone in the forest hates him. But all this does not affect him. The frog also feels jealous of Nightingale's popularity; he is also very cruel and greedy because he will sing the night and night on poor night and without resting to make more money. In this way, she is not the same character. On the other hand, Nightingale is inconvenient, scary and shy. But he has a beautiful, beautiful voice which he likes very much. When she sings for the first time, she immediately affects everyone. Visitors of remote places hear his voice. But he is not proud of all this. In fact, he lacks confidence and trust in himself. Not only is he unaware of his talent, he makes a big mistake by firmly believing in the decision of the frog of his song. Of course, someone should critically accept the criticism and try to improve, but without meticulous self-reflection. At last he explodes in vein and dies. In this way, she can be called as an angry, tragic character.

After seeing the snakes at the first time, the poet thought it as a guest and was admiring it's beauty. He initially liked the snake so much. But after some time the voices of his education told him that a snake is venomous and it can't be admired and must be killed.
These two situations of embracing the snake at a point and then the human voice inside him to kill him had put the poet in a dilemma whether he should kill him or gaze him.
