The ancient mariner was in the middle of a vast sea were he couldn't see land even upto the limit of his eye. He was in the middle of the sea with the scorching sun above his head all day long and it is irony to note that he had so much water around him but not a single drop was edible.

Chetna Pandey 6 years, 11 months ago

At that time poet is around the sea and there is water everywhere but it is salty water and hence not good for drinking then poet says "water water everywhere nor any drop to drink".

Annie Sullivan is Helen Keller's mentor and teacher as she grows up. Sullivan is partially blind, and she was educated at The Perkins Institute for the Blind. In terms of her character, she is very patient and loving with Helen, and she loves to teach Helen about the world, whether that is through academics or the more abstract life lessons that come from being immersed in nature.

Caesar agrees the way Decius Brutus interprets calpurna's dream, though it was not right. Despite calpurna's plead Caesar goes to the senate. He ends being killed by the conspirators. Her dream comes true as she had said.

The Story of My Life is the late Helen Keller's memoir of her struggle, with the considerable assistance of Anne Sullivan, to overcome the obstacles of blindness and deafness. Not a reflection on life as a deaf and blind person, Keller focused instead on the positive aspects of that struggle to overcome her afflictions and lead a "normal" life. Published in 1903, The Story of My Life remains in constant publication, and has been adapted for theater and film, precisely because of the positive message Keller chose to communicate. Indeed, the mere fact of an individual lacking in both sight and the ability to hear learning to communicate, lead a normal life, and write a memoir all bespeak the courage of a remarkable individual. Keller's memoir is divided into three main parts. The first part is a straightforward, if inspiring, recitation of her life from her earliest memories as a child to the beginning of her life as a college student at Radcliffe. The vital role of Anne Sullivan, understandably, assumes a high priority during this part of the book. As inspiring as the story of Sullivan's successful, if sometimes painful, efforts at elevating Keller out of a state of emotional isolation through the process of communication is the second part of Keller's memoir. This section, unlike the first, provides a compilation, in chronological order, of Keller's letters to her family and friends that documents admirably her growth as a student and as a woman. The final section was written by Keller's editor, John Macy, and recounts Keller's life on the basis of his scholarship, including Sullivan's written records of her work with the young Helen.

The mariners were stuck in the land of snow and mist. There was no way to get out. But as the albatross arrived the icebergs broke and provided a way or path for the ship to move. The wind began to blow. It helped the mariners to come out of the icy land.

Lavinia is the wife of a middle class bookkeeper and story writer, Mr. John Hallock. She is a spendthrift and has a craze for shopping and a tendency to buy every new fad has reached an alarming state, although their financial condition is not so strong. Lavinia is a dominating kind of woman who hardly cares about her husband’s instructions and despite his protests, retains the Ouija Board and does not return it. She is also somewhat suspicious about women and doesn’t want even the ghost of Helen of Troy to be called upon the board. Lavinia is a social woman too, and enjoys the company of the women of her Book Club. She doesn’t want Gladolia to leave her house and for her sake, she is even ready to burn the Ouija Board.

A transferred epithet is a figure of speech in which an epithet (or adjective) grammatically qualifies a noun other than the person or thing it is actually describing.

<div> <div class="answer" style="margin-bottom:10px">An epithet is an adjective (or phrase containing an adjective) or adverb which modifies (describes) a noun. For instance, in "dreamless sleep", dreamless is the epithet.

In a transferred epithet (also known as hypallage; literally "echange") the adjective or adverb is transferred from the noun it logically belongs with, to another one which fits it grammatically but not logically. So in "dreamless night" , dreamless is a transferred epithet. The exact meaning of the sentence is "night when I (or whoever) slept without dreaming," since a night can't actually dream anyway.

We use transferred epithets all the time. Another example could be "I had a terrible day." "Terrible" is a transferred epithet, because it wasn't the day that was terrible, only the things that happened to me on that day. A more poetic example would be "a long and weary road" - long can apply logically to the road, but not weary – so weary is a transferred epithet.
</div> <div><font color="#595959"><font size="4"><font style="box-sizing: border-box;">another eg:</font></font></font></div> <div>"Cruel bars" as a transferred epithet:

This refers to prison bars or the bars of a cage and to the fact that someone has been put into prison or into the cage unfairly. The bars themselves are not cruel, but they serve the purposes of the cruel person who uses the cage to imprison someone or something (such as a bird or an animal). The cruelty is transferred from the person who uses the cage or prison to the cage or prison itself and to the bars of the cage or prison.
