Miss Sullivan played a great role in Helen's life. It was Miss Sullivan who not only changed Helen's life but also helped her in overcoming all her physical and emotional challenges. Anne since childhood herself had passed through difficult times and was also gradually losing her vision to an eye disease. She had been sent to Perkins Institute and had graduated first in her class. The day Anne arrived at the Keller residence was momentous. It was a day that Helen Keller later referred to as "my soul's birthday. " Helen Keller was deaf ,blind and almost mute , trapped in her silent and dark world ,prone to violence and anger. Anne Sullivan proved to be a magic wand that by her gentle caring, compassion, meticulous planning and deep commitment brought about a magical transformation in Helen's life. The first day Anne Sullivan arrived, Helen learned to spell "doll "and soon other words followed. Anne helped Helen commune with nature and with her innovative ways took Helen into the surroundings sylvan fields and gardens. Anne taught several subjects including Geography and Science. Anne Sullivan was an inspiring and motivating role modelfor Helen. It was due to her that Helen learned from life itself. On her side ,Helen always acknowledged her teacher 's greatness.

Garima Choudhary 6 years, 8 months ago

This sentence is aptly said in the poem Not marble nor the Gilded monuments the time is so powerful that nothing except literature can resist it . In this poem the poet has glorified his literature art which will not be vanished with time . The poem will remain relevant throghout the generation

Niketa Thakur 6 years, 8 months ago

The saying 'pen is mighter than the sword' can be aptly explained in rhe poem Not Marble nor the Gilded Monuments ' as time can destroy everything except literature. Art and culture transcend time and remain relevant throughout the ages.
