In the story 'The Letter' Ali is waiting for a letter from his daughter, who married and went away five years ago. Ali goes to the post office daily to enquire about the letter. All the employees at the post office ridicule him and laugh at him. When the new post master comes, he too is told about Ali. They all call Ali a madman. Later, when the post master's daughter becomes sick, he waits impatiently for news about her. He now understands the anxiety felt by Ali and the pain of a father's heart. It is only when you have to face the situation that you realise the condition of others...... So, the statement that only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches is very true.........

Mr. Merton S Keith was an instructor in Cambridge who carries on Helen's preparation for the final examination required for entering Radcliffe College. He instructed Helen in algebra, geometry, greek and latin for almost one and a half years, initially twice a week but later on five times a week.

He is knowledgeable in literature, as Helen mentions in the book that his broad views of History and literature and his clever explanations made her work easier and pleasanter.

He made even mathematics interesting for his pupil by breaking the problems into small parts to enable her to follow them. He kept her mind alert and eager, and trained it to reason clearly, and to seek conclusions calmly and logically instead of jumping wildly to wrong conclusions. He was always gentle, patient and forbearing. The day before the exam, he was as worried as Helen about whether she would get through. This demonstrates his intense interest in the success of his pupil.

However, we find a chink in his knowledge when Helen mentions that he had relied too much on Helen’s capabilities and never taught her to write in the examination. This could have proved to be a grave mistake on his part.

In the autobiographical novel, The Story of my Life, by Helen Keller, she writes often about Bishop Brooks. He is an overly righteous man who believes that he is one of the people born on this earth to help people , whenever and wherever they require it. Bishop was man of god. He was an Ideal Bishop and an ideal bishop was man of god. Bishop Brooks was a true preacher and a noble soul. He was a spiritual influence for Helen. The bishop is a very wise man. He is true to his living as a bishop and he treats his parish like a family. He is very kind, gentle and helpful, which is sometimes taken advantage of by the people. He was also a genius man. He was also a friend of who has teaches her all about God and religion, Helen recounts her first meeting with Bishop Brooks who taught her no dogma or creed but.
Bishop was generous and altruistic. Helen enjoyed his company because he always gave her something meaningful to ponder over.. bishop brook  was in Helen words, one among many of the "man of genius " with whom she had the pleasure of acquaintances . as a child Helen used to love sitting  on his knee and clasping the great hand in her own as miss Sullivan spelled the beautiful words about god and spiritual world. she would listen with a wondrous delight of a child, her spirit could not reach up to his but he give her a real sense of joy in life.

Antony was successful in sensing the pulse of the mob. He understood that the Roman mob could not be swayed by cold logics and ideas like in Nrutus speech. They could be swayed by basic examples. So he uses his excellent rheotorical skills to instigate the mob against the conspirators.

Nidhi Sharma 6 years, 7 months ago

After he killed the albatross they cursed him for their ship had stopped moving.Later , when the ice melted away they hailed him and said it was right to kill the bird that brought mist and snow. Yet again when they were stuck in the motionless ocean they blamed the ancient mariner and hung the albatross around his neck........ They all were fickle-minded and based their reaction not on the action but on the effect it had on them. ............

Miss Hatke_Singing Queen ? 6 years, 7 months ago

Firstly they were very happy on the death of Albatros...but after that they blamed the mariner for the death of Albatros and hung the Albatros in mariners neck..this shows the fick mindedness of the sailors
