Distance covered by the satellite in 24 hours
s=2πr
= 2 × 3.14 × 42250  = 265464.58 km

Therefore speed of satellite,
v = distance travelled/ time taken = 265464.58/ 24×60×60 =3.07 km s−1

Scalar Quantity

Vector Quantity

It has magnitude only It has magnitude as well as the direction
It does not have direction It has direction
It is specified by a number and a unit It is also specified by a number along with the direction and unit
It is represented by quantity symbol It is represented by quantity symbol in bold or with the arrow sign above
Example: Temperature, speed, etc Example: Acceleration, velocity, etc

An object is said to be in motion if it changes its position with respect time and observer.
An object is said to be at rest if it does not changes its position with respect time and observer.
MOTION AND REST ARE RELATIVE TERMS.
That means it all depends upon the observer who is observing the object.
Example:
1. A person standing in a moving bus is at rest with respect to bus and is in motion with respect to observer on the ground.
2. A girl swinging in garden is in motion with respect to persons moving in garden and at rest with respect to swing.

Plastids occur in most plant cells. They are of three types: Chromoplasts, chloroplasts and leucoplasts. Chloroplasts are important for photosynthesis in plants. They also contain various yellow or orange pigments in addition to chlorophyll. Leucoplasts store materials such as starch, oils and protein granules.

Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of the cell. The energy required for various chemical activities needed for life is released by mitochondria in the form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) molecules. ATP is known as the energy currency of the cell. The body uses energy stored in ATP for making new chemical compounds and for mechanical work. Mitochondria are strange organelles in the sense that they have their own DNA and ribosomes. Therefore, mitochondria are able to make some of their own proteins.

Why do mitochondria have their own DNA and ribosomes??

Yogita Ingle 6 years ago

Mitochondria and plastids are semi-autonomous as they are only partially dependent on the cell to replicate and grow as they have their own DNA. They have their own ribosomes to make proteins.

Time to reach Maximum height ,
t = 6/2 = 3 s.

v = 0 (at the maximum height )

a = - 9.8 m s-²

 a) Using, v = u + at, we get

0 = u - 9.8 × 3

or, u = 29.4 ms-¹

Thus, the velocity with which it was thrown up = 29.4ms-¹

 b) Using, 2aS = v² - u², we get

S = v²- u²/2a

= 0 - 29.4 × 29.4/- 2× 9.8

= 44.1 m

Thus, Maximum height it reaches = 44.1 m.

  c) Here, t = 4s. In 3 s, the ball reaches the maximum height and in 1 s it falls from the top.

Distance covered in 1 s from maximum height,

S = ut + 1/2at ²

= 0 + 1/2 × 9.8 × 1

= 4.9 m

Therefore, The ball will be 4.9 m below the top of the tower after 4 s.

The third law of motion states that when one object exerts a force on another object, the second object instantaneously exerts a force back on the first. These two forces are always equal in magnitude but opposite in direction. The two opposing forces are also known as action and reaction forces.

Example of third law of motion:

  1. When a gun is fired, it exerts a forward force on the bullet. The bullet exerts an equal and opposite reaction force on the gun. This results in the recoil of the gun. Since the gun has a much greater mass than the bullet, the acceleration of the gun is much less than the acceleration of the bullet.
  2. As the sailor jumps forward out of a rowing boat, the force on the boat moves it backwards.
