The elements that have more than two atoms bonded by a covalent bond are referred to as polyatomic elements. Ex- P4,S8,ClO2 Polyatomic ions are ions which consist of more than one atom. For example, nitrate ion, NO3-, contains one nitrogen atom and three oxygen atoms.
