Simple distillation
Simple distillation is used when the boiling points of chemicals in a mixture having large differences (more than 25°C).
No fractionating columns used as the difference in the boiling point of mixture is large.
E.g. Process used in separating kerosene and petrol
Fractional distillation
Fractional distillation is used when the boiling points of chemicals in a mixture are close to each-other, usually within 77°F (25°C).
Fractionating columns used to separate the mixtures.
E.g. Process used in the separation of Crude Oil into useful fractions.

Evolution is the gradual changes occurring over generations after generations, during which different species of plants, animals, birds and insects gradually change some of their physical characteristics. These changes include the different aspects of life like genetic drift, mutation, natural selection, thought and technology. The main factors responsible for the evolutionary changes are certain environmental changes and predation pressures

Kinetic energy = {tex}\begin{array}{l}\frac12\\\end{array}{/tex} mv2
this means that K.E.is directly proportional to m(mass) as well as v(velocity or speed). So, if the velocity is doubled then the kinetic energy of the body will also be doubled.

Mass of one atom of an element = atomic mass X (1/12th) of the mass of one atom of carbon.
Or
atomic mass = mass of one atom of an element / (1/12th) of the mass of one atom of carbon.
Easy way to calculate atomic mass of oxygen atom.
The Proton number Z = 8
The Neutron number N = 8
The atomic mass of the oxygen atom is given by 15.9994 amu i.e. nearly 16.

Air is considered as a mixture because it exhibits following properties:
- Each component present in air retains its properties.
- Each component can be separated by simple physical processes.
- The components do not have any fixed proportion. All gases are present in different amount. Example, in greener area—more oxygen and water vapour is present; near industrial area—air consists of lot of impurities and smoke suspended in it.

Different pigments from the extracts of flower petals – chromatography.
Chromatography is a technique of separation of substances which are very close in their molecular weight but differ in their molecular sizes. Since pigments from flower petals will be very similar in their components, it is expected that their molecular weights will also be similar. But they have different molecular sizes as an inherent property. Thus chromatography will be able to separate these pigments.

Universal Law of gravitation was formulated by Sit Issac Newton.
It states that
Every body in universe attracts every other body with a force which is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them. The force acts along the line joining the two bodies

A dead body in water sinks when water enters into the lungs. Once submerged, the body stays underwater for sometime. Then there will be release of gases like methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide due to the bacteria present. Because of this the upper portion of the body (torso), which contains the most bacteria, bloats more than the head and limbs. The most buoyant body parts rise first, leaving the head and limbs behind. As the density of the head is more than that of water, it remains immersed in water.
