Let the work done on the object against gravity = W
Work done, W = force × displacement
Work done, W  = mg × h
Work done, W = mgh
Since workdone on the object is equal to mgh, an energy equal  to mgh units is gained by the object . This is the potential energy (Ep) of the object.
 Ep = mgh
Derivation for the equation of Kinetic Energy:
The relation connecting the initial velocity (u) and final velocity (v) of an object moving with a uniform acceleration a, and the displacement, S is
 v2 - u2 = 2aS
This gives
 S = (v 2 - u 2)/  2a
We know F = ma. Thus using above equations, we can write the workdone by the force, F as

  W = ma ×{ v 2 - u 2/ 2a}
   or
 W = 1 /2 m( v 2 - u 2 )
If object is starting from its stationary position, that is, u = 0, then
W = 1/2 m v 2
It is clear that the work done is equal to the change in the kinetic energy of an object.
If u = 0, the work done will be  W = 1/2 m v 2 .

Thus, the kinetic energy possessed by an object of mass, m and moving with a uniform velocity, v is Ek =  ½  mv2

Greater the amplitude of the sound, the louder is the sound. Whereas soft sound refers to sounds having low amplitude.

Normally if we see the difference between sound and loud sound is the intensity of sound. If we look at its application the sound of a DJ may sound nice from a distance but when we go closer it becomes noise. The sound we enjoy becomes music, but that we do not enjoy becomes noise.

Bacteria are unicellular prokaryotic organisms capable of surviving in unusual habitats. Their cellular body is protected by a cell membrane as well as cell wall. The cell wall of bacteria is composed of peptidoglycan that is capable of withstanding different conditions. Some bacteria also form spores that can withstand unfavourable conditions. These spores germinate and give rise to new bacterial cells on return of favourable conditions.

Gas exert pressure on the walls of the container because when container is heat up the particles of gas strike against the walls of the container therefore they exert some force per unit area which is equal to the pressure

Mohammad Yaseen 7 years, 3 months ago

Because the gas have high knetic energy and negligible force of attraction so they strik the wall with the certain firce impart momentum to them tge monentum is respinsible for the pressure

The main difference between Hemichordata and Chordata is that Hemichordata contains an epidermal nervous system whereas Chordata contains a central nervous system. Chordates contain a dorsal, tubular nerve cord. Both Hemichordata and Chordata contain pharyngeal gill slits. Chordates also contain a post-**** tail.

Sound waves are longitudinal waves. When a sound wave passes through a medium, such as air, the individual particles of the medium move in a direction parallel to the direction of propagation of the disturbance. The particles of the medium thus move to and fro along the direction of propagation of the sound waves.

The two forms of oxygen found in the atmosphere are:
(i) Elemental oxygen is normally found in the form of diatomic molecule (O2) in the lower part of atmosphere. It is about 21% in the air and non-poisonous.
(ii) Ozone is found in the stratophere part of atmosphere. It contains three atoms of oxygen (O3). It is the poisonous form of oxygen.
(iii) Some other forms of oxygen are also found in the combined state. In Earth's crust, it is found as the oxides of most metals and silicon and also as carbonate, sulphate, nitrate and other minerals. In other forms, it is the part of biological molecules like carbohydrates, proteins, fats and nucleic acids, etc.
