If the force and the displacement are in opposite directions, then the work is said to be negative. For example if a ball is thrown in upwards direction, its displacement would be in upwards direction but the force due to earth’s gravity is in the downward direction.

The law of definite proportion is also known as the law of constant proportion. This law states that in a compound, the elements are always present in definite proportions by mass’.
The postulates of Dalton’s atomic theory are as follows.
- All matter is made up of very tiny particles. These particles are called atoms.
- An atom cannot be divided further i.e., atoms are indivisible.
- Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction.
- All atoms of an element are identical in all respects, including the mass, chemical properties, etc.
- Atoms of different elements have different masses and chemical properties.

Amphibians are those organisms which live on both land and in water. Bryophytes are called amphibians of the plant kingdom because these plants though live in soil but they need water for sexual reproduction. The sperm of bryophyte (antherozoids) are flagellate and need water to swim to the eggs. In other words, as these plants need water for reproduction unlike other plants, they are called as amphibians.

Ernest Rutherford is credited with the discovery of proton in 1920. The experiments that led to the discovery of protons were based on electrical discharge in modified cathode ray tubes. The observations revealed that these particles (protons) were positively charged. The rays carrying positively charged particles are also known as canal rays.

The sugar would dissolve in water. You could then pour off the solution and wash the remaining sand with a bit more water. Heat the water to evaporate it from the sugar, and the two are separated.
Because you have not altered the sand or the sugar in a chemical way (the sugar always remains as sugar, and is reclaimed in the same form), these were physical changes.
