If we sprinkle salt on cucumber slices, it releases water after some time due to the process of osmosis. Osmosis is a process where solute or salt from higher concentration moves towards lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. Here in this case, salt concentration is more outside on the cucumber slices. The individual cell membrane of cells present in cucumber slices act as semi-permeable membrane. Inside the cucumber cells there is less concentration of salt or solute and more concentration of water. Therefore, the salt from outside goes inside individual cells and the water comes out as it also travels from higher concentration to outside lower concentration through semi-permeable membrane.

When the relative density of a substance is less than 1, it will float in water otherwise it will sink in water. The relative density of ice is 0.91, thus, it floats in water. If the relative density of an object is less than 1, compare to the liquid in which it is immersed, the object will sink otherwise object will float.

As the object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time, it is said to be in uniform motion.
Example- Motion of planets around Sun, they revolve at a constant speed. So the distance travelled in every equal time period is equal

Dalton’s atomic theory can be explained as follows:

1)      Matter  is made up of atoms. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible.

2)      All atoms of a certain element are identical in mass and properties.

3)      Compounds are formed by a combination of two or more different kinds of atoms.

4)      A  chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms.

In short we can say that,

Dalton’s atomic theory states that matter consists of indivisible particles called atoms of a given element are all identical and can neither be created nor destroyed. Compounds are formed by combination of atoms in simple ratios to give compound atoms (molecules).

Weimer Republic was Germany government in 1918 to 1933.In Germany war1 and nazism policy is called Weimer Republic

Gaurav Seth 7 years, 1 month ago

The problems faced by the Weimar Republic were:

→ Versailles treaty: The Versailles Peace Treaty at the end of the First World War dispossessed Germany of its territories, its resources and its pride as a nation. He also had to pay 6 billion pounds as war compensation. In spite of the harsh terms, the Weimar Republic accepted the humiliating treaty, thereby making it unpopular amongst the German masses.

→ Economic Crisis: The German state was financially crippled due to overwhelming war debts which had to be paid in gold. Subsequently god reserves depleted and value of German mark fell. Prices of essential goods rose dramatically.

→ Political defects: The Weimar Republic was weak due to inherent constitutional irregularities such as proportional representation and Article 48 (which gave the President the power to impose emergency and rule by decree). The democratic parliamentary system seemed to give the people no solutions or benefits in the times of the severe economic crisis.

Sound is the form of energy and it's wave travel in the form of compression and rearrfection and it's character is the section of hearing

Gaurav Seth 7 years, 1 month ago

Sound is a type of energy. Sound travels in the form of wave from one place to another.

Production of sound:

Sound is produced because of the vibration of any object. In other words, when an object is vibrated it produces sound.

Examples:

  • Sound can be produced by clapping of palms.
  • Sound can be produced by vibrating a string.
  • Sound can be produced by beating a table or diaphragm of a drum.
  • Sound is produced by a flute because of vibration of air column.
  • Sound is produced by a guitar because of vibration of its string.

Thus, an object is needed which could be vibrated to produce sound.

Characteristics of sound wave:

Following are the main characteristics of sound wave:

  • Wavelength
  • Amplitude
  • Time period
  • Frequency
  • Speed

To discuss the characteristics of wave, a graphical representation of sound wave is considered.

The peak of a wave is called compression or crest. The valley of a wave is called rarefaction or trough.
