The cooling in a desert room cooler is due to the process of evaporation.Desert cooler cools better on a hot dry day because the temperature of the atmosphere increases the rate of evaporation also increases and in hot day the humidity in atmosphere is less.If humidity is less evaporation is more. This gives better cooling effect.

It is observed that heat is required for change of state, although the temperature remains constant throughout the change of state. If mass m of a substance undergoes a change from one state
to the other, then the quantity of heat required is given by Q = mL or L = {tex}\frac{Q}{m}{/tex}
Here, L is known as latent heat and is defined as the amount of heat required/released for complete conversion of unit mass of substance from one state to another.
SI unit of latent heat is J/kg.
Latent heat is of three types. Latent heat for a solid-liquid state change is called the "latent heat of fusion". Latent heat for a liquid-gas state change is called the "latent heat of vaporisation" and that for a solid-gas state change is called the "latent heat of sublimation".

This happens because the vapour pressure of some substances is higher when in the solid form than the liquid form. Sublimation is an endothermic phase transition that occurs at temperatures and pressures below a substance's triple point in its phase diagram.

Independent units are known as fundamental units. There are 7 fundamental quantities. The units of seven fundamental quantities are given below:
| S.No. | Physical Quantity | SI unit |
| 1. | Length (l) | Metre (m) |
| 2. | Mass (m) | Kilogram (kg) |
| 3. | Time (t) | Second (s) |
| 4. | Electric Current (I) | Ampere (A) |
| 5. | Thermodynamic Temperature (T) | Kelvin (K) |
| 6. | Amount of substance (n) | Mole (mol) |
| 7. | Luminous Intensity (I) | Candela (Cd) |

The factors affecting the rate of evaporation are :
Temperature : If the temperature of the liquid increases then the rate of evaporation also increases.
Surface area : The rate of evaporation increases with the increasing of the surface area
Humidity : The amount of water vapour present in the air is called humidity . If the humidity increases then the rate of evaporation decreases.
Wind speed: Evaporation increases with an increase in wind speed.

Velocity-Time Relation
- A car having initial velocity u , is being subjected to a uniform acceleration a for a time period of t , after the time t the final velocity of the car is v.
- Now we need to find the relation between v,u,a,t graphically.

Position-Time Relation
- A car having initial velocity u , is being subjected to a uniform acceleration a for a time period of t , after the time t the final velocity of the car is v.
- In the time interval of time t , it covers a distance of s.
- Now we need to derive relation between s,u,a,t graphically.

No , as we look around, we can see that most of the matter around us exist as mixtures of two or more pure components, for example, sea water, minerals, soil are all mixtures. Mixtures are of two kinds- Heterogeneous and Homogeneous.
