This method is used to separate the mixture of two miscible liquids where difference between their boiling points is less than 25 ºC. Also to separate a mixture of two or more miscible liquids for which the difference in boiling points is less than 25 K, fractional distillation process is used, for example, for the separation of different gases from air, different factions from petroleum products etc. The apparatus is similar to that for simple distillation, except that a fractionating column is fitted in between the distillation flask and the condenser. A simple fractionating column is a tube packed with glass beads. The beads provide surface for the vapours to cool and condense repeatedly, as shown in following figure.

Due to the presence of cell wall the exchange of materials between the plant cells is not possible. Therefore, protoplasts of plant cells are connected by cytoplasmic channels through their walls which are called as plasmodesmata. These channels are used for the exchange of the material between two cells.

A microscopic gap between a pair of adjacent neurons over which nerve impulses pass when going from one neuron to the next is called a synapse. Synapse between two neurons acts as a one way valve which allows electrical impulses to pass in one direction only. This happens as follows: When an electrical impulse coming from the receptor reaches the end of the axon of sensory neuron, then the electrical impulse releases tiny amount of a chemical substance called neuro transmitter substance into the synapse between two adjacent neurons. This substance crosses the synapse and starts a similar electrical impulse in the dendrite of the next neuron. In this way, the electrical impulses passes from one neuron to the next across the synapse.

Plasma membrane is a highly specific structure. It is made up of lipids and proteins who selectively allow the entry of substance into cell and exit of some other substances from the cell i.e. selectively permeable.

The water that is found inside the coconut is basically the endosperm. In a young coconut the endosperm is in liquid form with various nuclei. The liquid contains nutrients. As the coconut grows, the no of cells grow and they get deposited on the periphery forming the soft, tender white part which we consume.

Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object. Mass is usually measured in grams (g) or kilograms (kg). An object's mass is constant in all circumstances; contrast this with its weight, a force that depends on gravity.
Yogita Ingle 5 years, 11 months ago
We can define mass as the inherent property of matter. It is the measure of the inertia of a body, mass tells us how much matter there is in a body, we can measure the mass of a body on earth by measuring the force of gravity acting on it, the SI unit of mass is kilogram (kg).

Scalar | Vector |
It has only magnitude | It has direction and magnitude |
Only one dimensional | It is multi dimensional |
This quantity changes with the change in magnitude | This changes with magnitude and direction |
Normal rules of algebra are applicable here | There is different set of rules known as vector algebra |
One scalar quantity can divide another scalar | One vector cannot divide another vector |
In example of speed, time etc, the distance between the points is scalar quantity not the direction | Velocity could be an example because it is measurement of the rate of change of an object’s position |

Hybridization is the crossing of dissimilar individuals to produce best of both organisms. It might be of interbreeding between individuals of different species (interspecific hybridization) or genetically divergent individuals from the same species (intraspecific hybridization). One advantage of hybridization is that it can combine disease resistance of one organism with the production capacity of another.
Crop yields increase dramatically when hybridization is used to exceed one or more of the parents in size and reproductive potential
