There are three common states of matter:
- Solids – relatively rigid, definite volume and shape. In a solid, the atoms and molecules are attached to each other.
- Liquids – definite volume but able to change shape by flowing. In a liquid, the atoms and molecules are loosely bonded.
- Gases – no definite volume or shape.

Cholesterol is also present in the plasma membrane. The cholesterol molecules are embedded in the interior of the membrane. They make the membrane less permeable for water-soluble substances. Cholesterol molecules make the membrane rigid structure.

Gases are primarily free-flowing, with little to no intermolecular force acting between them. It is important to know the major differences between solids, liquids and gases.

Water can be changed from gaseous state to liquid state by condensation that is lowering down the temperature of water vapours. This can be done by very simple activity that you also observe in daily life. Take out chilled water bottle from refrigerator.

At 80°C, liquid benzene is in equilibrium with its vapors. Particles of benzene vapors are more energetic because of benzene vapours have gained extra energy in the form of latent heat of vaporisation. Hence it is more energetic.

Eukaryotic cells are more complex and larger than prokaryotic cells. Animal and plant cells contain many organelles not found in prokaryotic cells. Prokaryotes have no true nucleus as the DNA is not contained within a membrane, but is coiled up in a region of the cytoplasm called the nucleoid.

If we want to change the physical state of any matter we have to change temperature and pressure mainly for the substances.
As the temperature increases, the solid state changes to liquid state and liquid state changes to gaseous state. The heat energy that is supplied to water till it changes its state is called as latent heat.
Water boils at 100°C temperature that can be written as,
100 + 273.15 = 373.15 K
